Bellator MMA didn’t do anything to quiet the rumors of a potential fighting between Wanderlei Silva and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Wednesday after Silva posted a message on his Facebook page.
Hours later, the promotion sent out an email detailing a “monumental can’t-miss event” to be announced during a New York City press conference with Bellator and Viacom announcing plans for a landmark distribution deal. Silva and Jackson are both expected to be in attendance.
”Like people say, it’s very hard for a good professional to retire,” Silva said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “I just got a call from Bellator inviting to be part of the Sept. 29 (card) against Quinton Jackson in the main event in California. It’s our fourth bout, I won two of the first three, so it’s 2-1 for me.”
If signed, the bout would be the fourth meeting between the two fighters. Silva (35-13-1) captured the first two in PRIDE in 2003 and a year later, with Jackson (37-13) claiming the third inside the Octagon in 2008.
