Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight Brendan Schaub was backstage at the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor boxing match last Saturday night (Aug. 26, 2017) to serve as analyst for Showtime and a couple of other media outlets.
Heading into “The Money Fight,” Schaub was one of the most vocal supporters of McGregor and told the combat sports world “Notorious” would win multiple rounds against “Mayweather” — which he did — before succumbing to strikes in the tenth frame.

After the fight, there was talk of a potential Nate Diaz trilogy, after the two split a pair of welterweight contests in 2016. So when Schaub ran into the Stockton slugger backstage, he praised “Notorious” and tried to explain to Diaz how McGregor’s gutsy performance would equate to beaucoup bucks at the box office if and when they ran it back later this year.
Diaz, who loves to make people squirm when it comes to McGregor, wasn’t having it and instead unleashed a bunch of F-bombs and told-ya-so’s because the Irishman lost, somehow implying the Schaub backed the wrong horse.

Showtime executives kept the situation from escalating, which is great for everyone involved, but probably a disappointment to the fans, who love to see instances like this go down whenever the Diaz brothers get heated.
