Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 129 event marks the promotional debut for the Octagon in Chile, as the card goes down from Santiago with Kamaru Usman meeting Demian Maia in the main event.
It will also see top female flyweight title contender Valentina Shevchenko make her debut on the FOX Deportes announce team alongside Fabricio Werdum and Troy Santiago.
For the FOX Sports 1, FS2 and UFC Fight Pass programming, Brendan Fitzgerald will be joined by Jimmy Smith. UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, former title challenger Kenny Florian and Karyn Bryant hold down things on the desk, with Laura Sanko providing interviews on-site.
Winner of 11 bouts in a row, including seven in the Octagon over the likes of Leon Edwards and Sergio Moraes, the No. 7-ranked Usman has been a nightmare matchup for everyone he’s faced.
He expects similar results against the Brazilian grappling wizard Maia, the No. 5 contender at 170 pounds, who owns wins against top contenders Jorge Masvidal, Carlos Condit, Matt Brown, Neil Magny and Gunnar Nelson.
The two-hour prelims begin at 8 p.m. ET on FS2, FOX Deportes and FOX Sports GO with four exciting bouts. Zak Cummings (21-5) fights Michel Prazeres (24-2) in a welterweight scrap. No. 7-ranked flyweight Brandon Moreno (14-4) and No. 12 Alexandre Pantoja (18-3) tangle, while Poliana Botelho (5-1) and Syuri Kondo (6-0) square off at 115 pounds. Plus, Gabriel Benitez (20-7) battles Humberto Bandenay (14-4, 1NC) open the prelims with a featherweight clash.
The three-hour main card moves to FS1, FOX Deportes and FOX Sports GO at 10 p.m. ET and features five more action-packed bouts. No. 9-ranked strawweight Alexa Grasso (10-1) faces No. 12 Tatiana Suarez (6-0). Jared Cannonier (10-3) and undefeated Dominick Reyes (8-0) meet in a light heavyweight tilt. Diego Rivas (7-1) and Guido Cannetti (7-3) square off in a bantamweight battle. Flyweight Veronica Macedo (5-1-1) battles Andrea Lee (8-2). Plus, Vincente Luque (12-6-1) and Chad Laprise (14-2) open the main card with a welterweight bout.
A post-fight show is set to begin immediately following the main event on FS1.
