For the first time ever, the Octagon sets up shop this Saturday in Russia.
UFC Fight Night 136 presents another chance to mark a check off the promotions plans for expand around the world. The card airs live on UFC Fight Pass from Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Moscow.
Originally, it was Fabricio Werdum vs. Aleksei Oleinik for the main event, but Werdum was pulled after failing a drug test and replaced by Mark Hunt. The card has also lost the likes of Douglas Silva de Andrade, Omari Akhmedov and Krzysztof Jotko.
Hunt and Oleinik are part of a four-bout main card that also includes Jan Blachowicz vs. Nikita Krylov, Andrei Arlovski vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov and Alexey Kunchenko vs. Thiago Alves.
Here’s a quick look at some predictions for the event:
Fight of the Night: Mark Hunt vs. Aleksei Oleinik
The two fighters who will conclude the night are who everyone will be coming to see. Hunt is dangerous with his striking, while Oleinik has the ground skills to rival anyone in the sport.
Look for the two to spend much of the first couple of rounds feeling each other out. If it goes beyond that, Oleinik would be best served taking it to the canvas and working to submit Hunt.
Performances of the Night: Nikita Krylov, Thiago Alves
Krylov should be able to use his skills to off-set what Blachowicz wants to do, while Alves has the experience to handle Kunchenko. Look for both fighters to impose their wills and collect some extra cash.
UFC Fight Night 136 Main Card Predictions
Aleksei Oleinik over Mark Hunt via third round submission
Nikita Krylov over Jan Blachowicz via first round TKO
Andrei Arlovski over Shamil Abdurakhimov via decision
Thiago Alves over Alexey Kunchenko via second round submission
