Kevin Lee made a big statement in the main event of UFC Fight Night 128 Saturday, dominating Edson Barboza in picking up a stoppage victory.
The card took place from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, with bouts airing live on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Using his wrestling skills early to frustrate Barboza, Lee poured it on in the fifth, forcing the ringside doctor to call a stop to the contest. Lee, who did miss weight on Friday, rebounded from an October loss to Tony Ferguson that snapped his five-fight win streak.
Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar told everyone that would listen that he was fine to compete less than two months removed from his first knockout loss. And “The Answer” showed just that in the co-main event, besting Cub Swanson via decision.
Edgar’s performance came in front of a bi-partisan home arena, as the New Jersey native earned his second career win over Swanson. Last month, Edgar was knocked out in the first round by Brian Ortega.
Swanson, who was coming off a submission loss to Ortega last December, is now 4-2 over his last six fights.
