It looks like Deiveson Figueiredo is the latest fighter to undergo a brutal cut to make weight for a UFC fight.
Weight cutting continues to be a big issue in MMA these days. And while UFC Fight Night 119 on October 28th seems to be going ahead without any last minute fight cancellations, it looks like at least one fighter had a hell of a time making it down to their contracted weight.
UFC Fight Pass prelims fighter Deiveson Figueiredo is listed as hitting the 126 mark for the early morning weigh ins, but that doesn’t tell the whole tale. The flyweight fighter cried his way through the procedure, and we don’t think it was just a smart ploy to shed that last bit of water weight.
How difficult is the fight before the fight? Deiveson Figueiredo made it painfully evident.

Things have been getting progressively grimmer at the weigh-ins. Fighters have always shown up gaunt and drawn out, but these days there have been incidents where athletes seem completely zoned out, and others where they literally stagger back and forth from the scale.
Considering how dangerous mixed martial arts is, we have to wonder how much longer fighters can keep cutting insane amounts of weight a day before a fight and still remain safe.
