UFC female featherweight champion Cris Cyborg believes in her knockout power, which she’ll try to put on display at UFC 219 Saturday night when she defends her title against Holly Holm.
The two headline the final event of 2017 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Cyborg, who won the vacant belt when she finished Tonya Evinger earlier this year, believes another stoppage win is in order.
“I’m going to catch her in five minutes,” Cyborg said.
Daniel Cormier, the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion and member of the announce team for events, sees the bout becoming one of the more memorable ones of the year before all is said and done.
“This fight is going to be crazy,” Cormier said. “When you talk about Cris Cyborg, you talk about power at the highest level and truest form.”
While Holm might be the underdog, she is a former UFC female bantamweight champion and held boxing gold in multiple weight classes before embarking on her MMA career. Inside the Octagon, she scored a stunning knockout of then-champion and unbeaten Ronda Rousey to win the UFC title
“Holly Holm has the type of style that can give a Cris Cyborg problems,” Cormier said, “and then bam, you go to sleep.”
