Robert Whittaker will make his first middleweight title defense vs. a familiar foe, as he faces Yoel Romero at UFC 225.

Set for June 9, the event takes place from the United Center in Chicago.

Back in 2017 at UFC 213, Whittaker scored a split decision over Romero to claim the interim title. When Georges St-Pierre vacated the belt, Whittaker became the undisputed champion.

Whittaker (19-4) has reeled off eight consecutive wins. The 27-year-old has bested the likes of Romero, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Derek Brunson during his run.

Romero (13-2) was denied the interim belt earlier this year after missing weight for a bout with Luke Rockhold. The 40-year-old former Olympic medalist knocked out Rockhold in the third round.
