Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans is moving back up to the division after a run at middleweight, and he’ll do so against Anthony Smith at UFC 225.
The bout was first confirmed by ESPN. It is added to the June 9 card from Chicago and the United Center.
Evans (19-7-1) has lost four consecutive bouts, including two at 185 pounds. His last win came in 2013 vs. Chael Sonnen via first round TKO. “Suga” has bested the likes of Dan Henderson, Phil Davis, Tito Ortiz, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell during his career.
In Smith (28-13), he’ll be meeting a fellow former middleweight who has gone 4-2 since signing with the promotion, but opted to move up after a recent loss to Thiago Santos. During his run, he’s scored a win over Hector Lombard via third round knockout and another late stoppage win vs. Andrew Sanchez.
