Heavyweights and featherweights from the Professional Fighters League will head to New Orleans next month to begin the playoffs.
The quarterfinals and semifinal round matches in both weight classes will be contested at PFL 8 on October 5 from the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The main card will air live on NBC Sports Network.
“It has been a great year for the Professional Fighters League and we are very excited to bring PFL 8, our first playoff event, to New Orleans,” PFL president Carlos Silva said in a press release. “With our innovative format the League continues to make MMA history every time we put on an event and this bracket is sure to provide some incredible action in the cage as these guys compete for millions of dollars and a chance to become PFL champion.”
Set for the heavyweight quarterfinals are bouts between Francimar Barroso and Josh Copeland, Jack May and Alex Nicholson, Philipe Lins and Valdrin Istrefi, and Kelvin Tiller and Jared Rosholt.
The featherweights quarters pit Steven Siler vs. Nazareno Maglegarie, Timur Valiev vs. Alexandre Almeida, Andre Harrison vs. Alexandre Bezerra, and Lance Palmer vs. Max Coga.
Both championship round matches will be part of the year-ending card in New York on December 31.
The lightweight and light heavyweight tournaments are scheduled for October 13 from the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California. Middleweight and welterweight quarters will go down October 20 from Washington’s Entertainment and Sports Arena.
