Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko went through a full five rounds of action last night (Sat., Sept. 9, 2017) in the headlining bout of UFC 215 inside Rogers Center in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (recap here). After five rounds of action, “Lioness” was awarded a split-decision victory over “Bullet,” giving the champ her much-desired first-ever title defense.
Naturally, with such a close fight, many were confused at the decision, with some feeling Shevchenko should be the new champion. Thanks to MMA Fighting, which obtained a copy of the official judges scorecard, we can see just how Sal D’Amato, Tony Weeks and David Theiren scored the bout. Here’s a better look:
