Back in 2004, Jake Shields scored a first round submission victory over Ray Cooper at Shooto Hawaii.

Fourteen years later, Ray Cooper III avenged that defeat, securing a second round TKO victory over Shields in the main event of Professional Fighters League 3 Thursday night.

The main card aired live on NBC Sports Network.

In 2002, Cooper earned a win via majority decision over Shields. For his son, the win was his first in PFL and third in his last four fights.

In the co-main event, Pavlo Kusch submitted Abubakar Nurmagomedov, with Rick Story earning a decision over Yuri Villefort.

All of the bouts go towards a year-long points race.
