Paige VanZant’s debut in the UFC’s flyweight division did not quite as planned Sunday night.

VanZant suffered a loss to Jessica-Rose Clark via decision and also broke her arm during the opening five minutes of the contest at UFC Fight Night 124.

“Well….I broke my arm in the first!” VanZant posted on Twitter, along with an X-ray of the damage. “I was able to finish the fight but as you can see, had a hard reocvering and throwing my right. I’ll be back better and stronger than ever.

“It’s all apart of the fight game. God had other plans for me. Darn spinning back fist.”

In fact, VanZant also found the exact moment when the injury happened, as like she said, a spinning attack that landed was the culprit.

The 23-year-old VanZant (7-4) dropped her second consecutive bout, as she was submitted by Michelle Waterson back in 2016. She is now just 1-3 over her last four following six wins in seven pro fights to start her career.

With the injury, VanZant should have plenty of time to promote the release of an autobiography, which is scheduled for this April. The book will focus on her rise to fame in the UFC, along with both her Octagon and personal battles, and appearance on “Dancing with the Stars” where she placed second on the reality series.
