Just when it appeared we might be seeing Nick Diaz back inside the Octagon soon, the former UFC title challenger found himself in trouble with the law yet again.

Diaz was arrested Friday on multiple charges of domestic violence by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. He faces charges of domestic battery by strangulation and first-degree domestic battery, according to online records found by MMA Fighting.

The UFC released a statement regarding Diaz late Friday night:

“UFC is aware of the recent arrest of middleweight athlete, Nick Diaz,” the statement read. “The organization does not tolerate domestic violence and requires all athletes to adhere to the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy. Every athlete is deserving of due process and this situation, as with any official allegations, will be duly reviewed and thoroughly investigated by an independent party.”

The 34-year-old served a lengthy suspension for missing a drug test by USADA, but was eligible to return starting last month. He has not fought since 2015.
