Eight years ago Tuesday, Jake Shields picked up a victory over Dan Henderson in the main event of Strikeforce: Nashville.
That, though, would quickly be overshadowed by what happened next.
With Shields conducting his post-fight interview, Jason “Mayhem” Miller entered the cage and asked for his rematch.
Miller was immediately confronted by Nick and Nate Diaz, along with Gilbert Melendez, and the rest of the fight team from Shields. A minor brawl quickly ensued, which was broken up by Henderson’s corner and security.
With the recent Conor McGregor melee still fresh, Nate Diaz posted on social media in remembrance of the brawl.
“This is what they were trying to act like they were doing n NYC but no ones for real in this sport were the last of our kind it’s a new day in age ride or die we started this G shit,” he posted.
