Nick Newell, a former World Series of Fighting contender, makes his return to the cage this Friday night when he faces Sonny Luque in the main event of Legacy Fighting Alliance 35.
The main card airs live on AXS TV at 9 p.m. ET from Houston.
The 31-year-old Newell (13-1) retired following a 2015 victory over Tom Marcellino in WSOF. IN 2014, he challenged UFC contender Justin Gaethje for the WSOF belt, falling via second round TKO.
“To be back, I’m just going to take it to another notch to the next level,” Newell said. “LFA has an eye for talent and it’s time for me to start beating all their lightweights.”
Newell was born with congenital amputation of his left arm, which ends just below the elbow.
Other fights set from the Arena Theatre include Jason Langellier vs. Thomas Webb, Charles Cheeks III vs. Rivaldo Junior and Jeremy Hardy vs. Vernon Lewis.
