Rising lightweight contender Mairbek Taisumov took full advantage of his Octagon return earlier today (Sat., Sept. 2, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 115 live on UFC Fight Pass from inside the Ahoy Rotterdam arena in Rotterdam, Netherlands, when he flattened Brazilian Felipe Silva will one punch. It was Taisumov’s first UFC appearance since April of 2016.

With a lot of time to make for, Taisumov quickly took it to Silva. As the Brazilian rushed in for a combination Taisumov stepped back, timed a perfect counter right hand, and dropped Silva head first into the cage for the first-round knockout finish. It was a tremendous performance for a guy who hasn’t competed in nearly 17 months.

With this win, Taisumov not only gets back into action after a lengthy layoff due to a knee injury, but the 29-year-old earns his fifth-straight victory (all finishes) in the deep 155-pound division. Taisumov arguably deserves a top 10 opponent his next time out and is quickly looking like a bona fide knockout star.
