Rising UFC welterweight contender Kamaru Usman was looking to make a statement earlier tonight (Sat., Sept. 16, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 116 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa., when he took on Brazilian submission specialist Sergio Moraes. It didn’t take long for Usman to take over. Just minutes into the first round the overpowering welterweight landed a beautiful right hand that instantly dropped Moraes and forced him to roll over in pain. The referee immediately jumped in for the knockout stoppage.

With this victory, Usman extends his welterweight win streak to six and locks down his first Octagon finish. The imposing 29-year-old is going to be a problem for fellow divisional contenders moving forward and will be a dark horse to earn a title shot late next year.
