UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic was looking to tie a divisional record last night (Sat., May 13, 2017) at UFC 211 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, by defending his title for a second-straight time when he met former king Junior dos Santos in the main event. The champion got his wish.
After landing a couple of stiff leg kicks early that forced Miocic to limp away, JDS was absolutely blasted with a right hand to the ear along the cage. Miocic was stalking the Brazilian down from the opening bell and finally found a home for the knockout blow. “Cigano” fell to his feet and Miocic followed up with nasty ground-and-pound before walking away with the TKO win.

With this win, Miocic ties the UFC heavyweight record for title defenses. He also avenges a previous loss to dos Santos back in 2014. At this rate, there doesn’t look like there’s anyone in the division that can stand and bang with the champ. Miocic should defend his title one more time in 2017.
Francis Ngannou? Cain Velasquez? We shall see.
