Rising Brazilian prospect Paulo Borrachinha aimed to extend his insane streak of nine first-round finishes in a row when he met middleweight striker Oluwale Bamgbose last night (Sat., June 3, 2017) at UFC 212 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After a physical altercation at the weigh ins, both middleweights carried the aggression over into the Octagon.
The first round was a round of two tales, as both fighters unloaded at will. First, Bamgbose landed a slick right hand on an inside move, a standing hammerfist, a head kick, and a timely takedown. Then, Borrachinha took over. The Brazilian bashed the New Yorker with two hard body kicks before uncorking countless hooks, knees, and kicks on a tired Bamgbose along the cage. In Round 2, after “Holy War Angel” attempted to land some offense, Borrachinha took advantage of a slip, pounced on Bamgbose, and landed heavy ground-and-pound for the TKO finish.

With this win, Borrachinha remains undefeated and pushes his middleweight record to 2-0. He’s clearly an athletically gifted 185-pound prospect capable of bashing opponents into pieces, but the 26-year-old has a long way to go before he moves his way through the top 10.
