Khabib Nurmagomedov watched as Conor McGregor attempted to confront him Thursday inside the Barclays Arena following UFC 223 media day.
Nurmagomedov, who had an altercation with Artem Lobov earlier this week, told MMA Fighting in the hours after the incident that he is ready whenever McGregor is down for a fight.
“I am laughing inside,” Nurmagomedov said. “You broke window? Why? Come inside. You know UFC don’t let you come inside. If you real gangster why don’t you come inside?
“This is big history gangster place. Brooklyn. You want to talk to me? Send me location. We have to talk? I am gonna come, no problem. I grew up like this. I don’t grow up throwing chairs at window. This is not my bus.”
Nurmagomedov and his team found Lobov, a teammate of McGregor’s and close friend in the fighter hotel earlier this week. There was a brief encounter, but nothing else happened.
That all changed Thursday, as McGregor, Lobov and others came inside the Barclays Center in pursuit of Nurmagomedov. A window to a fighter van was shattered, sending Michael Chiesa to the hospital for medical attention.
“This is not my team bus, this is red corner bus,” he said. “My whole team wasn’t with me. It was just me, (my manager) Ali Abdelaziz and a cornerman, Muhammed. The whole red corner was on the bus. Rose Namajunas, Al Iaquinta, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Ray Borg. Everyone.”
