Rising UFC star Kevin Lee dodged a hot bullet earlier today (Fri., Oct. 6, 2017) when he successfully made weight for his interim lightweight title fight against Tony Ferguson tomorrow night (Sat., Oct. 7, 2017) at UFC 216 after failing to hit the 155-pound benchmark during his first trip to the scale.
After being cleared by doctors, “Motown Phenom” was granted an additional hour to cut one pound. Despite the last-minute scare, Lee hit the mark in his second attempt and made his title fight opposite “El Cucuy” official.
The brash 25-year-old took to Twitter following the early weigh ins to assure fight fans that he was never going to actually miss weight:
If that wasn’t enough, Lee offered more insight into what he would do to get his hands on Ferguson and capture his first ever UFC title.
I’m willing to die bout this shit. I got a title to win tomorrow. Nobody gonna stop me. #25toLife

While Lee isn’t going to have to die to make it to the Octagon this weekend in Las Vegas, he had to go through hell to cut almost 20 pounds in one day, and will have even more obstacles to hurdle when he actually goes up against Ferguson and his nine-fight win streak at UFC 216.
If Lee can manage to disrupt Ferguson’s awkward fighting style and capture his most impressive win to date then he’ll be able to quickly put this harrowing weight cut behind him.
UFC 216 will air live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and also feature a co-main event title fight between current UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and top contender Ray Borg.
MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC 216 fight card, starting with the Fight Pass “Prelims” matches online, which are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, then the remaining undercard balance on FX at 8 p.m. ET, before the PPV main card start time at 10 p.m. ET.
