Injuries aren’t just hitting UFC and Bellator events, as Combate Americas has been forced to alter Friday night’s historic event.

Due to suffering a detached retina, Marc Gomez is out of the main event of Combate Estrellas from Los Angeles. Replacing Gomez to meet John Castaneda in a bantamweight contest will be Jose Alday.

The 90-minute live event on Univision will be the first-ever live MMA card on the network. It begins at midnight ET and also airs on UDN.

Gomez was declared medically unfit to fight by the California State Athletic Commission after they discovered the injury during a pre-fight physical exam.

The co-main event will still feature Amanda Serrano, as the five-division boxing champion makes her MMA debut vs. Corina Herrera. Herrera is replacing Erendira Ordonez, who was unable to secure a work visa to make the fight.

Jose Estrada now faces Rudy Morales after Pablo Sabori was forced out. A three-bout live main card will be preceded by five prelim fights.
