Donald Cerrone is going to be a family man soon.
Cerrone disclosed during a post-fight interview that he is expecting, making his finish at UFC Fight Night 126 that much more memorable Sunday night.
“Cowboy” snapped a three-fight losing streak by stopping Yancy Medeiros in the main event from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. The bout aired live on FOX Sports 1.
“I worked hard for this and got it,” he said. “We knew he’d stand in the middle. I knew he’d meet me in the middle and come hard. He’s such a cool dude and thanked him for taking the fight.”
The two had a pleasant exchange after weigh-ins, as Medeiros gave Cerrone a cowboy hat. That struck some emotion from Cerrone’s family, who was present for the fight. Afterwards, Medeiros went over and hugged his grandma.
“What a solid dude,” Cerrone said. “He’s such a solid dude. My grandma wants to get his address and send him something.”
The victory was the 20th in his career, tying him with Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre for the most inside the Octagon. He also sits atop the finishes record with 14 after the first round stoppage win.
