Daniel Cormier has never been one to keep quiet.

The reigning UFC light heavyweight champion had no issues engaging in back-and-forth social media battles with Jon Jones ahead of their fights. And as he puts the finishing touches on his training ahead of UFC 220, “DC” is doing the same with Volkan Oezdemir.

Oezdemir, to his credit, has been giving it his all in interviews and online to help promote the contest, which takes place next Saturday night from Boston’s TD Garden.

But for the time being, Cormier appears to be the one gaining the mental edge.

After Oezdemir posted a picture of himself finishing Jimi Manuwa and Cormier laying on the ground following a loss to Jones, the reigning champion responded.

“Savage post (Oezdemir),” he said, “but since no one knows or follows you I’ll send it out to the public. 3000 likes for such a good post seems like a waste. Quick point (though) you’re no Jon Jones and I’m no Jimmy Manuwa.

“And I’m a lot better than Kelly (Anundson).”

Cormier was referencing the lone career loss Oezdemir has suffered, which came to the veteran Anundson back in 2014 at Bellator 115. Anundson locked in a neck crank to score the second round submission.

Since that loss, Oezdemir has reeled off five consecutive victories, including three inside the Octagon. His last two wins have been first round finishes in under a minute vs. Manuwa at UFC 214 and Misha Cirkunov back in May.

Cormier, meanwhile, was crowned UFC champion once more after Jones was stripped of the belt following a positive drug test.
