The second season of Dana White’s “Contender Series” begins June 12 on UFC Fight Pass.
Several key names have already been announced for the series, including Antonina Shevchenko, former NFL player Greg Hardy and Nick Newell.
Hardy, who had legal trouble while becoming an all-pro in the NFL, will be part of the first week of fights, as he faces fellow ex-NFL player Austen Lane on June 12.
Unbeaten through three amateur fights, Hardy has not fought outside of the first round. In fact, all three of his wins have coming within the first 1:36, including a 14-second knockout at Legacy Fighting Alliance 33 in February.
Lane is also 3-0, with his three bouts coming as a pro. He won all of his amateur fights, as well.
New opportunity to showcase controlled chaos.
Same “Cut The Strings” mentality.

The first card will also feature Chris Curtis vs. Sean Lally, Will Santiago vs. Kevin Holland and Rico DiSciullo vs. Montel Jackson.
Shevchenko is the sister of former UFC title challenger Valentina Shevchenko. The 33-year-old. She is 39-1 in her kickboxing career, and a perfect 3-0 through three MMA fights.
Newell, a congenital amputee, returned from a self-imposed retirement to score a victory under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner.
