Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor has an unusual way of loosening up before he begins training, in which he flails his arms to and fro like one of those wacky inflatable arm tube men they have propped up outside car dealerships.

I blame this guy.

Naturally, the boxing community latched onto those movements and created the “McGregor Challenge,” complete with its own hashtag, which requires video submissions to look as goofy as possible in order to mock the power-punching Irishman.

“I don’t take the McGregor challenge personally but they look stiff,” McGregor told the combat sports media on Wednesday’s conference call (via Showtime). “It’s a shoulder-loosening method, you have to do it right.”

Remember the old “challenge” days of buckets and ice water?

We’ll see who gets the last laugh when McGregor boxes Floyd Mayweather Jr. a week from Saturday night (Aug. 26, 2017) — in smaller gloves — when “The Money Fight” lights up T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
