Hang on…Am I the only one who is in the top 5 who hasn’t fought Whitaker, coming off a win, most title defenses, makes weight and doesn’t fail drug tests? ??? #UFC221

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman took to social media to make his plea as the No. 1 contender in the division.
Weidman watched as Yoel Romero defeated Luke Rockhold Saturday night at UFC 221. But since Romero missed weight, he was not eligible to win the interim title and likely next shot at current champion Robert Whittaker.
Enter Weidman, who posted this on Twitter:

Weidman submitted Kelvin Gastelum this past July for his first wins since 2015. He lost the title to Rockhold in 2015, was finished by Yoel Romero in 2016 and fell to Gegard Mousasi early in 2017.
