Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez will meet in Las Vegas, as the fight was announced for September 16 from the T-Mobile Arena.
The two will meet for the middleweight title in a bout that is expected to rival the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao bout from two years ago.
The UFC confirmed that they were looking at September 16 and Las Vegas for a possible Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight, but that was thrown out the window when Golovkin-Alvarez was made for the same weekend.
Golovkin (37-0) has stopped 33 of his opponents, while Alvarez (49-1-1) owns 34 knockouts. The bout will air on pay-per-view through HBO.
