Bellator welterweight champion Rory MacDonald isn’t one to back down from a fight.

And neither is former Bellator champion and recently-retired Ben Askren.

The two engaged in an all-day Twitter exchange Wednesday, with MacDonald hurling some interesting shots towards Askren.

“You remember the day we were face to face, and I challenged you there on the spot and you put your tail between your legs and said I only fight for money and walked off,” MacDonald wrote. “The only one stalling is you, if you want it to happen make a deal with Bellator and I’m ready to go.”

MacDonald claimed the title with a victory over Douglas Lima. The former UFC title contender is now 20-4 overall with back-to-back wins since signing with the promotion.

“Wrong,” Askren replied. “I remembered you stuttered and got red in the face. I was coaching Pettis so I had to bounce and didn’t stick around for the reply.”

Askren announced his plans to retire following a November victory over Shinya Aoki as the ONE welterweight champion. He also left Bellator without ever losing the title, as he is 18-0 overall with a no-contest.
