Bellator 183: “Henderson vs. Pitbull” went down at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., on Sept. 23, 2017, featuring a main event between former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion “Smooth” Benson Henderson against the hard-hitting “Pitbull” brother named Patricky Freire. Henderson dropped a hard-fought split decision loss, moving to 1-3 in his fourth Bellator fight.

However, it was certainly good news for Spike TV. The audience for the fights on Saturday night peaked at 966,000 during the “Henderson vs. Pitbull” main event, showing Henderson’s drawing power for Bellator. The overall average for the duration of the telecast was 646,000 viewers (DVR +3).

Fans certainly tuned in to witness the Bellator debut of Roy Nelson, too. Undoubtedly bigger fights are in the cards for “Big Country” as the Heavyweight division currently lacks a world champion.
