The World Series of Fighting (WSOF) has partnered with Pancrase to expand into the Japanese market. Pancrase is a Tokyo based company which has been around since the early 1990s.
“Japan has long been a home of top-level martial arts competitions of all types, and I personally have enjoyed some of the best moments of my fighting career there,” said WSOF President Ray Sefo. “I’m excited to announce this new division with the launch of World Series of Fighting Japan.”
The relationship will see fighters shared between the two promotions. The first event from Japan is expected for early 2014. More details are expected in the coming weeks.
In December, WSOF will hold their first event outside of the United States. They head to Canada’s PNE Agrodome on December 7 with a main event of Anthony Johnson vs. Mike Kyle.
