The Nevada Athletic Commission didn’t get the weekend off despite there being no UFC card in Las Vegas, as the World Series of Fighting held a card.
In the main event, Rousimar Palhares scored a first round submission victory over Steve Carl, becoming the new welterweight champion. For his efforts, Palhares picked up $50,000, which included a $25,000 win bonus.
Marlon Moraes, who became the inaugural bantamweight champion, also won $50,000.
The medical suspensions were also reported, with Steve Carl receiving a lengthy one. Carl will need to have his right foot, ankle and knee all checked out if he wants to return before September 26.
Tyler Stinson is suspended until May 14, while Josh Rettinghouse, Ozzy Dugulubgov, John Gunderson, Sean Cantor, Phil Dace and Gil Guardado all received suspensions, as well.
