Rick Glenn will attempt to go 2-0 for the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) this weekend against Artur Rofi. In back of his head will be the unfortunate news that his sister and grandmother are terminally ill with cancer.
“She’s battling brain cancer so she doesn’t have too much time and she’s 14,” said Glenn to MMA Mania. “She’s fighting hard. My grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer and she has it in her bones so she’s fighting and that’s gonna make me fight even harder. They have to fight for their life.”
If Glenn can somehow concentrate on the fight, it could play dividends for his future. At 13-2, with nearly all those fights being stoppage wins, Glen last finished Alexandre Pimentel at March’s WSOF 2.
Rofi debuts for the promotion at 6-0 with those wins coming from Cage Fury Fighting Championships. He’s submitted five and stopped one of wins via a punch.
WSOF 5 is this Saturday, September 14. It’s out of Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ with a main card airing live on the NBC Sports Network.
