Andrei Arlovski hears people say he has a weak chin and the heavyweight is out to prove them wrong at today’s World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 5.
The former UFC heavyweight champion pointed to his WSOF 2 loss to Anthony Johnson. When the fight was replayed by Arlovski’s camp, they noticed the first round went several extra seconds. In that short window, Arlovski suffered a broken jaw and finished the fight in a decision loss.
“I’m really getting f–ing sick of all these comments about my chin,” said Arlovski to MMA Fighting. “I broke my jaw in two f—ing places and f—ing Anthony Johnson couldn’t f—ing knock me out. So if you’re going to talk to Mike Kyle, you can just tell him to shut his f—ing mouth and be ready for the f—ing fight. That’s it. Period.”
Arlovski is returning to the promotion for the first time since breaking his jaw in March. He’s 1-1 for the WSOF, having stopped Devin Cole in the main event of their inaugural show. He takes on Mike Kyle in his third WSOF headliner.
Kyle is a former Strikeforce and UFC fighter. When Strikeforce closed in January, the 20-9 fighter didn’t join the UFC. He needed 21 seconds to finish Travis Wiuff at CFA 11 in May.
They close WSOF 5, which comes from Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. It’s today, September 14, with a main card that can be watched on the NBC Sports Network.
