Just one Olympic Games will go on without wrestling, as the sport was voted back in for 2020 and 2024 by the International Olympic Committee Executive Board on Sunday.
Wrestling, which was removed by the board, topped baseball/softball and squash to re-gain entrance.
Many current MMA fighters, including Daniel Cormier and Dan Henderson were Olympians and helped with the push to get the sport back onto the program.
“Wrestling lives on!!!” Gray Maynard posted on Twitter, a former collegiate wrestler. “So happy to see everyone come together to make this happen.”
Wrestling will not be part of the 2016 Games after being removed.
