World Series Of Fighting 23 Predictions: Who Walks Away With Gold

wsof 23

Two titles will leave the Comerica Theatre tonight at World Series of Fighting 23.

The main card airs live on NBC Sports Network, with Justin Gaethje defending his lightweight title against Luis Palomino for a second time.

Gaethje scored a third round finish of Palomino in that encounter, which also took place in Phoenix.

Also, David Branch – the reigning middleweight champion – meets Teddy Holder in the finals of the first-ever light heavyweight championship match.

Check out FightLine’s fight-by-fight predictions can be found below, and come back later tonight for full results from the event:

PRELIMINARY CARD (Online/6:45 p.m. ET)

Benny Madrid over Jeff Fletcher via submission

Joey Miolla over Randy Steinke via decision

David Nuzzo over Andres Ponce via TKO

Matthew Frincu over Danny Davis, Jr. via decision

Estevan Payan over Kamuela Kirk via KO

Krasmir Mladenov over Clifford Starks via decision

Vagab Vagabov over Brian Grinnell via submission

MAIN CARD (NBC Sports Network/10 p.m. ET)

LaRue Bentley vs. Brian Foster

Bentley has exceptional skills for someone his age, but Foster is a wily veteran.

Ben “Phoenix Jones” Fodor vs. Roberto Yong

The superhero known as “Phoenix Jones” suffered his first pro loss in his WSOF debut. This is a key fight for Jones, and he should bounce back vs. the 2-2 Yong.

Ben “Phoenix Jones” Fodor over Roberto Yong via first round submission

Timur Valiev vs. Tito Jones

Expect Valiev to dominate and earn his 10th career win with ease in this one.

Timur Valiev over Tito Jones via first round TKO

David Branch vs. Teddy Holder for the inaugural WSOF light heavyweight championship

Branch already owns the middleweight title, but Holder had the more impressive win to get to his point. A late-minute replacement, Holder finished UFC veteran Thiago Silva for his eighth consecutive victory.

Still, Branch has championship experience, holding wins over the likes of Yushin Okami, Jesse Taylor and Dustin Jacoby.

David Branch over Teddy Holder via fourth round TKO

Justin Gaethje vs. Luis Palomino for Gaethje’s WSOF lightweight championship

For some reason, I do not expect Gaethje to let Palomino impose his will as much in this rematch. The champion has looked like one of the more dominant fighters outside of the UFC in his wins over Nick Newell, Dan Lauzon and Brian Cobb.

Palomino has won 23 fights in his career, including victories over Gesias Cavalcante, Lewis Gonzalez and Jorge Patino.
