World Series Of Fighting 22 Results: Palhares, Moraes Retain

The World Series of Fighting put two title fights up against UFC 190 Saturday night, with the main card airing live on NBC Sports Network from Las Vegas.

Rousimar Palhares turned back the challenge of former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields, earning a third round submission to retain his welterweight title. Palhares, a submission expert, locked up a kimura on Shields.

In the first title fight of the night, Marlon Moraes flexed his muscle, besting Sheymon Moraes and retaining the bantamweight title. The champion locked up a rear-naked choke in the third round to best the challenger.

Clifford Starks scored a decision victory, taking out Mike Kyle. Originally, Kyle was scheduled to meet Tyrone Spong, but Starks stepped in on short notice.

Abubakar Nurmagomedov, the brother of UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov, earned an easy decision in his WSOF debut. Nurmagomedov bested Jorge Moreno, earning a pair of 30-26 decisions.

Islam Mamedov got the main card off with a spectacular first round knockout of Jimmy Spicuzza.

The prelims featured all stoppages via submission, as Jake Heun, Donavon Frelow, Marco Simmons, Cory Hendricks and Gil Guardado were victorious.

Frelow, Hendricks and Guardado all finished their foes inside of the first round.
