Chael Sonnen is booked to take on Rashad Evans next, but Wanderlei Silva is still chomping at the bits to take on “The American Gangster.” The rivalry has been in place since Sonnen began sending out disrespectful comments about the Brazilian people to hype his Anderson Silva bouts.
When Sonnen is done with Evans, Silva wants to destroy him in his home state of Oregon.
“I talked to the boss and said that I can fight Sonnen in Brazil or in Oregon,” said Silva to MMA Fighting. “I want to beat him in front of all his friends. I want them to watch how bad I will destroy him. I’d be down to fight in his backyard. You can call all his friends. I want Sonnen to feel ashamed of how bad he’ll be beaten by me.”
This year, Sonnen is 1-1 with a failed light heavyweight title shot. He defeated Mauricio “Shogun” Rua via submission last month.
Sonnen-Evans is booked for UFC 167 on November 16. It’s from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
Silva has no return date and a few months ago he reported some back problems. The UFC hasn’t held a show in Oregon in several years.
