In 1998, Vitor Belfort needed 44 seconds to stop Wanderlei Silva. It was the UFC debut for Silva and his second defeat. 15 years later and Belfort remembers the win.
“It was a notable fight because I was sick before the duel,” said Belfort to TATAME. “By the time I enter the Octagon my head felt like it would explode, but in the end it was worth it.”
Belfort is 23-10 after taking a pair of wins this year. He takes on Dan Henderson at UFC Fight Night 32 on November 9. It’s a rematch from when Henderson took a decision under the PRIDE banner.
Silva has been arguing with Chael Sonnen as of late. He fought once this year, taking Fighting of the Night and Knockout of the Night over Brian Stann.
