With the injury to Chris Weidman, UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will now fill the main event role at UFC 184 on February 28.
Rousey defends her title against Cat Zingano from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Rousey (10-0), a former U.S. Olympic medalist, will be competing near her home in California against another unbeaten fighter in Zingano (9-0). The two were scheduled to coach on The Ultimate Fighter before facing off in 2013, but a knee injury knocked “Alpha” from the bout.
Other planned bouts include former world boxing champion Holly Holm making her Octagon debut vs. Raquel Pennington, Jake Ellenberger vs. Josh Koscheck and Tony Ferguson vs. Yancy Medeiros.
Along with losing Weidman-Vitor Belfort for the middleweight title, the event has also seen Frank Mir-Antonio Silva and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza-Yoel Romero get removed or rescheduled.
