Urijah Faber has done well in the UFC bantamweight and featherweight divisions. He’s made it to the top twice, but failed to win the gold. Since the bantamweight division is short on opponents, Faber is open to a superfight with Frankie Edgar.
“The California Kid” will know soon enough if the UFC wants to put him inside the Octagon opposite Edgar, mentioning the fight at Friday’s UFC Fight Club Q&A session.
“I would consider that,” said Faber. “I’d like to talk to those guys, the matchmakers, and see if it’s something we can make happen. Throughout the history of my career, I’ve always just kind of taken who they’ve given me. I don’t know if I’d go up for that weight or they would come down or do a catchweight or something like that, but I’m definitely open to it.”
Edgar was the UFC lightweight champ before dropping the belt and subsequent rematch. He cut to featherweight and failed to win the title in his debut. Edgar picked up his first featherweight win over Charles Oliveira at UFC 162.
Faber is 3-0 this year. After taking back-to-back rear naked choke wins, he got the decision on Iuri Alcantara.
There’s no confirmation on the return of either fighter.
