Former Ultimate Fighter runner-up Uriah Hall did more than just battle through constant pressure from Thiago Santos Saturday night at UFC 175.
Hall fought through a broken toe and possible damage to his right foot to earn the decision win.
Following the opening round, the Octagon-side doctor came in and looked at Hall’s right foot. As the camera panned in, you could see a toe was broken. Hall’s corner told the doctor that the injury happened before the fight even began and it was allowed to continue.
“It was how I was brought up,” said Hall, when asked how he fought through the injury. You face it. When life knocks you in the face, you get up. I had to get back up and I had to overcome it.”
By the time the fight ended, Hall’s toe almost looked similar to that of Jon Jones during his championship match with Chael Sonnen last year.
“Every movement, I could fee the bone shift in and out of the skin,” Hall admitted. “But give it up for Thiago. He came out here and put it all on the line.”
