James Krause opted to compete on The Ultimate Fighter 25: Redemption despite having a contract with the UFC.
Krause showed why he was tabbed as the No. 1 pick by submitting Johnny Nunez in the first round on Wednesday night’s episode.
“I wouldn’t say I’m ecstatic about my performance,” Krause said (thanks to MMAjunkie for the quotes). “But I think with a couple small adjustments I’ll be able to get ready for the second round, because I know the second round is going to be a much more difficult opponent. Any time you can pull off a win in this tournament, I think it’s a good thing.”
Next week, Dhiego Lima will meet Hayder Hassan. The two are teammates at American Top Team, but Lima is part of Team TJ Dillashaw and Hassan with Team Cody Garbrandt.
Dillashaw, a former UFC bantamweight champion, is a perfect 4-0 through the first four matches of the opening round.
