Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo will coach 16 flyweights on the upcoming 24th season of The Ultimate Fighter.
The official announcement was made Wednesday during “UFC Tonight.”
The series debuts August 31 on FOX Sports 1, with the winner of the season earning a shot at current UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.
Plans for such a season were revealed earlier this year, but the UFC scrapped tryouts. Instead, they will select the 16 contestants from around the world, with Benavidez and Cejudo coaching them.
The two coaches will meet in the co-main event of The Ultimate Fighter Finale 24 on December 3, with Johnson taking on the winner in the headline bout.
“Mighty Mouse” owns a pair of wins over Benavidez and recently knocked out Cejudo in the first round.
