Rizzo (20-11) returned to the cage for the first time since 2013 when he lost to Satoshi Ishii in Japan. He also fought the likes of Fedor Emelianenko and Ken Shamrock more recently.
Back in 2000, “The Rock” was on a nine-fight win streak that included three knockouts and earned himself a shot at the UFC heavyweight title vs. Kevin Randleman. He lost that bout via decision, but rebounded and picked up wins over Dan Severn and Josh Barnett to earn another crack at the belt.
He lost two more championship matches vs. Randy Couture in 2001, the first via decision and the second via third round TKO.
After picking up a win over Andrei Arlovski via ksnockout a year later, Rizzo lost to Gan McGee and Vladimir Matyushenko before scoring back-to-back 2003 wins. He left the UFC and signed with PRIDE, losing to Sergei Kharitonov and Roman Zentsov.
Rizzo had a rematch with Barnett in 2008 under the Affliction banner and lost via knockout, losing a year later to Gilbert Yvel before three straight wins vs. Jeff Monson, Gary Goodridge and Shamrock.
Below is a replay of the Rizzo-Emelianenko match from 2012 and M-1 GLobal in Russia.
