“UFC Tonight” aired Wednesday evening and provided us with some updates concerning the world of MMA.
In regards to the rumors that Gina Carano will be brought into the promotion to face UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, Dana White remained quiet.
The UFC president asked Ariel Helwani where that rumor came from, but said he had nothing to say concerning Rousey’s return to the Octagon.
Rousey is expected to film scenes for her role in the upcoming “Entourage” movie, while Carano is also a Hollywood actor now. She hasn’t competed inside the cage since a loss to Cris Cyborg several years ago.
– As for middleweight contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, he recently underwent elbow surgery and is looking to return to action in August.
Souza, who topped Francis Carmont, is hoping to face Michael Bisping if “The Count” gets past Tim Kennedy. His manager also mentioned the winner of Luke Rockhold-Tim Boetsch.
– Brendan Schaub is seeking a heavyweight contest with Mark Hunt, according to Schaub’s manager, Lex McMahon.
When reached for comment, Hunt said he felt the bout was a step “backwards,” but “if he wants to go to sleep first, than sure, why not.”
– Two drug tests given at UFC 168 came back inconclusive for Siyar Bahadurzada and Dennis Siver. The Nevada Athletic Commission is running the B sample for both fighters.
Neither Bahadurzada or Siver wished to comment on the matter.
