UFC Rankings: Michael Johnson Surges Into Top-10

Fresh off a victory over Edson Barboza, Michael Johnson now finds himself among the elite in the UFC’s lightweight division.

Johnson, an alum of The Ultimate Fighter, climbed six spots to No. 6 overall in the latest official rankings. He defeated Barboza in Brazil, dropping him two spots to eighth.

Myles Jury, Bobby Green, Eddie Alvarez and Jim Miller all fell a spot due to Johnson’s surge. Al Iaquinta also moved up a position to 14th.

At middleweight, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza passed Anderson Silva to become the ranked No. 1 contender. Vitor Belfort is still set to get the next shot at the belt.

Roy Nelson, Alistair Overeem and Frank Mir all moved up in the heavyweight ranks, with Nelson going to eighth, Overeem ninth and Mir 11th. Antonio Silva fell four spots and Matt Mitrione one.

Kelvin Gastelum and Dong Hyun Kim flipped for ninth and 10th at welterweight, while Gunnar Nelson and Ryan LaFlare did the same for 14th.

In the bantamweight Top-15, Johnny Eduardo and Bryan Caraway are now eighth and ninth,, while Iuri Alcantara fell two spots. Frankie Saenz debuted at No. 12, while Erik Perez, Alex Caceres and Mitch Gagnon fell a spot each.

John Moraga and Jussier Formiga switched for fourth at flyweight, and Tim Elliott and Dustin Ortiz did the same for 11th.

Marion Reneau debuted at No. 10 in the female bantamweight division, dropping Jessica Andrade, Julianna Pena, Raquel Pennington and Germaine de Randamie a spot each.
