From UFC president Dana White to Chael Sonnen to social media networks, UFC 166 appeared to set a high bar for the remainder of the calendar year.
White proclaimed it to be the “best card we’ve ever done, top-to-bottom. I can’t think of another that was better.”
Sonnen, who has been part of several major events in the promotion, stated “This was the single-greatest night of mixed martial arts ever” while on the FOX Sports 2 post-fight show.
The card featured Cain Velasquez scoring a fifth round TKO over Junior dos Santos to successfully defend his UFC heavyweight title, Daniel Cormier defeating Roy Nelson to remain unbeaten and an epic three-round war between Gilbert Melendez and Diego Sanchez.
