Matt Brown’s made a name for himself in the UFC by winning six straight fights.
To make it seven, he’ll need to take out former interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit. The two meet this December at UFC on FOX 9 from Sacramento.
Immediately following their most recent respective fights, fans called for a Brown-Condit contest.
“I’m excited,” said Brown, during a recent press conference. “I’ve looked up to Carlos for a long time, been a fan of his fighting for a long time. I am glad to be able to fight him.”
For Brown, the chance to lock horns with a top-ranked fighter is something he’s pushed for – and believes will get him closer to that elusive title shot.
“He’s ranked No. 2,” Brown said. “If I beat him, I should be ranked No. 2, right? I would think (that would get me a title shot).”
As for the match up with Condit, Brown feels there will be no extensive time spent on the mat. Instead, he is looking to land his patented knockout shot.
“The best takedown in the world is a left hook,” he said. “That’s how I’m gonna take him down.”
